If your rig isn't prewired, there are extra steps you will need to take to make this work for your setup but those are outlined in the install instructions. I installed this in about 10 minutes on a Rockwood Roo, but the Roo was prewired for the camera. In hot weather the suction cup clamp had difficulty staying adhered to the windshield but this unit doesn't provide much functionality while underway so not such a big deal. And, if you buy the camera and display in a single box, the camera will be pre-paired to your screen so no messing around with any of the pairing issues. If your rig is pre-wired for this unit (which mine was) then it's just a matter of getting on a ladder, unscrewing the plate on the back of your rig, plugging the camera unit into the receptacle and screwing the camera unit into the housing.

One huge plus is the ease of installation. I haven't used the infra-red, night vision as a security camera when inside the RV as I don't have a cigarette lighter inside my rig. As far as using it for backing up it is helpful but I still feel like I need to have another person helping out when it comes to tight spaces. I was hoping to see vehicles behind the RV while driving but the field of vision is too limited/ narrow for that. It does show a clear field of vision directly behind your travel trailer or other RV. I'd say this unit is just ok for using when backing up. I just think this the cost is about 50% of what it's actually worth. Would I purchase this again, probably not. The built-in mic was OK but I wish it was a little louder or could be plugged into the aux port of my truck radio. I could clearly see my camping slot and obstacles behind me. I was able to see traffic behind me as I was rolling down the highway. I did get to use it on our shakedown trip and it worked as expected, so that's a plus. Maybe I was expecting more from what could be considered as the defacto standard for a RV backup camera system. The video quality isn't that great either.

That being said, the quality of the product itself is considerably cheaper than I expected from such an expensive piece of technology. Four screws to remove the camera from the housing, four screws to remove the cover from the trailer, a single barrel connector and screw the camera into the housing on the trailer.

My TT, as many others, came pre-wired for this camera.
